David Gerstein:
David Gerstein is a painter ‘who has fine-tuned the technique, temperament, shapes, images and coloring which are identified with him‘‘: David Gerstein is a painter who produces simple, charming, Matisse-like decorative objects, using his unique inventive technique and employing a Fauve-like coloring and sensuality. Good-hearted objects that convey a certain irony and humor towards ‘‘Israeliness‘‘, which grows more and more convoluted and yet for him, at least, remains simple and innocent,
(by Naomi Aviv)

Yuval Mahler:
Yuval Mahler was born in 1951 in Haifa, Israel.
Mahler studied graphic design and animation at the school of Visual Arts in New York. While living in New York, Yuval Mahler also participated in several group shows in Soho. Yuval Mahler draws on rich supply of wry humor, satire, caricature and comedy, to produce his insightful studies of human behavior. His works explore human relationships under various conditions of life the world over.

Dan Shamir:
Artist Dan Shamir successfully manages to translate into his own artistic, virtuosic language into images that depict his initial, intuitive thoughts about the various subjects he addresses. For instance, he creates a jazz singer with neither eyes nor nose, thus focusing all emphasis on her exaggeratedly huge mouth. A cut-out model of a winged camel, reminiscent of the Tel Aviv trade fairs logo, raises urban-commercial associations expressing scenes of bustling modern city life.

One needs only to look at a selection of Shamir’s works to be drawn into his joyful approach to life. They are lively and colorful, full of movement, sometimes teasing with the most delicate of grotesque touches.

This exhibition is an opportunity to view some of his works in metal alongside exciting ceramic models, which in his hands are also transformed into painted cut-outs. Even his Hannukiot (Hannuka candelabras) soar beyond their merely traditional function to become artistic sculptural pieces, adding their own unique design statement.
